Jharkhand Public Service Commission has conduct the JPSC Civil Services 2021 prelims stage exam on September 19, 2021. The state-level exam to fill up more than 250 vacancies was earlier scheduled to be held in May 2021 but was postponed. The prelims exam is scheduled to be conducted in two shifts i.e. from 10 am to 12 noon in the morning and from 2 pm to 4 pm in the evening.

Candidates have to appear in the prelims exam in both shifts to take the test for both papers (compulsory). The first paper is called General Studies I while the second is General Studies II. Both papers will be set as per the prescribed syllabus and will consist of objective type questions only with no negative marking.

JPSC will release the list of qualifying candidates after the release of the JPSC Civil Services answer key 2021. Based on the merit in the Prelims exam, candidates will be shortlisted for the Main exam. Although the Prelims will be a screening test only for initial shortlisting, only those who qualify through the Prelims will be subsequently allowed to appear in the Main exam.

JPSC 2021 Exam Pattern

JPSC Examination is held in three essential steps. They are:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • The Personality Assessment Round / Interview

The first Exam, i.e., preliminary Exam, deals mainly with MCQ-type questions. The candidate needs to be qualified for the main exams by completing this Exam successfully. The prelim marks are not calculated for the final merit list. Two marks questions need to be attempted in 4 hours. The next Exam is the Main Examination is for those who have qualified for the prelim exam. There is again an application procedure before the Main Exam that needs to be completed. The rank of a candidate in the final merit list will be decided according to marks obtained in this Exam. When a candidate qualifies the main Exam, he/she has a chance for the next round. The duration for each of the six papers is 3 hours in mains and has total marks of 1050 for the Exam.

The assessment of the personality round will be for the candidates who qualify for the Main Examination. Moreover, the score of the main and interview will decide the rank of the candidate in the merit list. It has a total of 200 marks in the Exam.
